What are they

Okay, first of all, there are 2 types of pesticides and fertilizers. One is chemical and the latter is organic.
Well, you guys should know that chemicals are much more hazardous than organic right? Okay, now i will brief you guys more on this.I will start with pesticides first.

As you guys know, pesticides are substances or mixture that are intended to get rid of pests that harm the growth of the plant and the production of the plant itself. It can also be classified as target organism. There are two category of pesticides. One is chemical, which is hazardous and the other is organic, which is safe. Chemical pesticides have several types. They are:
  • Organophosphate
  • Carbamate
  • Organochlorine Insecticides
  • Pyrethroid

Organophosphate - These pesticides were first developed by the 19th century, however the effects on insects and pests were discovered in 1932. It was used during world war II to combat enemy forces as a stealth weapon. These pesticides functions by affecting the nervous system, which disrupts the enzyme that regulates acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter.

Spraying pesticide is a no-no!
Carbamate - Carbamate functions the same as Organophosphate, albeit it has reversible effects. There are many subgroups which was categorized within carbamates.

Organochlorine Insecticides - These pesticides were commonly used in the past. However, due to the strong effects of it to  health, environment and to the market growth itself, it was shelved and seized production.

Pyrethroid - These were developed as a synthetic version of pyrethrin, a naturally occured pesticide which was found in chrysanthemums. Some of these Pyrethroid are very dangerous, as they act as a toxic to the nervous system.

While there are safe pesticide, which uses natural materials. These pesticides are called as Biopesticides. Biopesticides utilizes organic matter such as animals, plants, bacteria and other organic materials as a repellent and killers for pests. Below are the tables of Biopesticides:

As for fertlizers, fertilizers were made as to accelerate and fertilise the plant's soil for better production as the world was in shortage of food production back in the 19th century. The two materials, chemical and organic are actually quite simple, really. Fertilizers that are sold in stores are usually chemical-based. Why is this? I will explain it on my next post :) well, basically, chemical based are easy to produce and are not as costly as the Organic. The organic, which made from organic matter such as cow's dung, worm castings, bones and others are somewaht hard to mass produce. However, many of chemical fertilizers nowadays incorporates technologies that are engineered to ensure that the chemical fertilizers are controlled in amount of the chemical itself so that it would not bring harm.

Is the fertilizer you use organic or chemical?

Okay, that is all I guess on my briefing here for these two. Look forward for my next topic next time! :) Have a nice day!
